Dotty E. LeMieux, Marin attorney and campaign consultant, is pleased to announce that her article “Absentee Voting in the 21st Century” is included as a chapter in a comprehensive 3 volume look at the way America votes, past, present and future. The series, entitled Voting in America was edited by Morgan Felchner of U.S. And News Reports and published by Praeger Press.
The work in these three weighty volumes examine all aspects of voting and elections from what went wrong in Florida in the 2000 Presidential election and electronic versus paper ballots to how to campaign for down-ticket races and why all voting is not only local but personal. It’s a book political junkies, academics and lay people can pick up and get something out of. Anyone interested in politics in America, national, state or local, would find food for thought in this set. Contributors are a diverse mix of campaign consultants, pundits, political science professors and pollsters with a broad knowledge of how elections work in the United States.
LeMieux’s essay, “Absentee Voting in the 21st Century” appears in Volume 1 and discusses the way absentee voting has changed over the past dozen years and more and more people vote by mail. She compares and contrasts voting by mail with conventional ballot box voting with some surprising conclusions.
LeMieux is a frequent contributor to Campaigns and Elections Magazine. Most recently, she was cited as a “grass roots maven,” in the popular “how to” book Campaign Boot Camp by Christine Pelosi, daughter of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Pelosi quotes LeMieux extensively on fundraising, negative campaigning and other topics for the savvy candidate.
Locally, LeMieux runs Green Dog Campaigns and Communications and has helped elect candidates for office. Some of her successes include Marin County Supervisor Susan Adams, School Board members Whitney Hoyt and Derek Knell, MMWD member Alex Forman and Fairfax Mayor Mary Ann Maggiore.
